What is BookPrep.com?
BookPrep.com is a new web service, by HP, that makes discovering, previewing and purchasing rare and hard to find books easy and affordable.
Where do the books come from?
We offer a variety of out-of print books from publishers, libraries and universities that have been scanned and in some cases digitally re-mastered to enhance their quality and legibility.
What is BookPrep's relationship with Amazon and Lighting Source?
All books ordered through BookPrep.com are printed on demand by one of our distribution partners such as Amazon and Lighting Source.
Why aren't all books available for purchase?
A small number of books in our catalog have an unusually small or large number of pages making them difficult for our distribution partners to process efficiently. While we work to make those books available in printed format you can still enjoy them online on our website.
Why is a book marked "temporarily unavailable"?
In rare cases a book may be unavailable due to technical difficulties (we are in Beta still). In all likelihood we are aware of the problem and the BookPrep team is working hard to get that book back online so please check back.
Can I purchase and download an electronic version of a book?
While we do offer free previewing of books on our website, BookPrep is intended to provide readers and collectors with a way to purchase print-on-demand copies of out-of-print books. We do not offer digital downloads at this time.
What if I don't see a book I'm looking for on your website? Can I special order it?
With supposedly over 90 million books out-of-print it is very possible we may be missing a few books in our catalog. If there is a particular book you are looking for please
contact us and we will check with our publishing partners to see if it can be located.
How long will it take for me to receive my book?
Exact shipping time will vary based on our distribution partner but in most cases your book will ship within 24 hours.
Why is my book missing pages?
Even with the most sophisticated processing rare books may contain some permanent flaws so we recommend you view the online copy prior to purchase.
What's the difference between "library quality" and "BookPrep quality"?
Library quality books have been digitally enhanced using some of BookPrep's proprietary technology to partially remove artifacts that occur during aging; pages have been trimmed and images have been scaled.
BookPrep quality books have been fully digitally re-mastered to remove artifacts that occur during aging; faded colors are restored to clarity and vibrancy; pages are straightened and trimmed; blurred text is sharpened and images are enhanced and scaled.
